In Mathematics, we put numbers first: number is at the heart of our teaching, because we believe confidence with numbers is the first step to competency in the Maths curriculum as a whole. We put depth before breadth: we reinforce knowledge again and again. We encourage collaboration: children can progress through key concepts as a group, supporting each other as they learn and talking through their Maths thinking. We focus on fluency, reasoning and problem solving: it gives our children the skills they need to become competent mathematicians and courageous risk takers.
